Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 21-bed Nephrology unit serving patients with ESRD, AKI, hemo- and peritoneal dialysis, transplant (kidney and pancreas), parathyroidectomies, urological procedures, and general medicine overflow
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on night shift, conducting bedside report and 1–2 hour rounding on all assigned patients
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, and Patient Care Technicians present on all shifts to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Administer inhalers and coordinate with Respiratory Therapists for respiratory treatments; monitor telemetry notifications via paging system (TeleTech-monitored Philips monitors)
• Float to general med units as needed; infrequent float to ED or ICU in a help-all capacity only
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, dress code requirements, and unit-specific orientation of 3 days with a preceptor

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification required
• General medicine nursing background
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong teamwork, and dependability
• Must pass a drug screen for all panels prior to placement
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in nephrology or urology nursing
• Familiarity with dialysis patients (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis)
• Experience with transplant post-operative care or transplant rejection management
