Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving orthopedic, neuro spine, post-surgical, and general med-surg patient populations
• Manage pain assessment and pain management protocols for orthopedic and spine patients, maintaining close monitoring and timely intervention
• Perform IV starts and continuous telemetry monitoring as part of routine patient care
• Maintain patient-to-nurse ratios of approximately 5–6:1, with the ability to flex as census demands
• Float to other medical surgical units within the facility as needed to meet staffing and census requirements
• Work every other weekend as required; any missed weekend shifts must be made up on a weekend

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with required orthopedic nursing experience
• BCLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Proficiency with IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
