Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiothoracic progressive/intermediate care unit with a patient ratio of 1:4–1:5
- Manage post-procedural care for patients following cardiac catheterizations, TAVRs, ablations, watchman procedures, and pacemaker implantations, including TR band management and neurovascular checks
- Deliver pre- and post-operative care for open-heart surgical patients including CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, and aortic dissection repairs, as well as post-thoracic surgery care including VATs/RATs, resections, and lobectomies
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including telemetry, transport monitors, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, pacer wires/pacers, feeding pumps, and IV pumps
- Administer and monitor cardiac and vasoactive drips such as heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine
- Document accurately using Meditech EMR and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team including RNs and PCTs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of current PCU/progressive care hospital experience
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Active and unrestricted RN license applicable to the state of Colorado
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with chest tube management, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal
- Proficiency with 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation
- Advanced oxygen management experience including BiPAP and heated high-flow therapy
- Prior experience managing cardiac drips in a progressive or intermediate care setting
