Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 13–20 Week Contracts | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No on-call requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms via telemetry; manage dysrhythmias and respond appropriately using Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Perform and manage IV therapy including central line blood draws, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products, heparin, insulin, and PCA
  • Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Deliver wound care including wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and chest tube care
  • Float as needed to main campus facility, approximately 32 minutes away; contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team assignments

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Telemetry nursing experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Must be available to work holidays; expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays per contract
  • Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible — a modified rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Charge nurse experience preferred; ACLS and on-unit telemetry monitoring experience a plus
  • Experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), and tracheostomy management
  • Familiarity with CVA management, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, ABG interpretation, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
  • Experience with electronic documentation and community hospital settings preferred
