Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13–26 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
  • Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Perform IV starts and administer medications in accordance with unit protocols
  • Document patient care using EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication frameworks
  • Work every other weekend as required; make up any missed weekend shifts based on unit needs
  • Float to other Medical Surgical / Telemetry areas as needed, which may include COVID care units

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
  • Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts prior to applying — first-time travelers will not be considered
  • BCLS certification required
  • NIH / NIHSS certification required
  • Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Local candidates are welcome to apply (reduced rate applies for candidates within 50 miles of the facility)

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a neuro-focused Medical Surgical or Telemetry setting
  • Familiarity with Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) care or neurosurgical patient populations
