Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–26 Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Oncology unit with a primary population of general med-surg patients with oncology history, including diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection as needed
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, surgical drains, chest tubes, and wound care including wound vac therapy
- Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED, as required
- Participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned; may be required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents
- Attend monthly staff meetings and complete make-up shifts for any called-out shifts
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient setting
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Oncology certification required (must hold a recognized ONC-level credential)
- Ability to administer chemotherapy if needed
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency with Med/Surg skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, heparin and insulin drips, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification
- Charge nurse experience
- CPI certification
