Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced orthopedic and neuro-spine unit serving post-surgical, med-surg, and orthopedic patient populations
• Manage pain effectively for orthopedic and spine patients, maintaining close monitoring and timely intervention
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring as part of routine patient care
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing and census demands
• Adhere to every-other-weekend scheduling requirements; any weekend call-off must be made up on a subsequent weekend
• Complete charting and documentation using Epic

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience required
• BCLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no holiday RTO will be approved
• Local candidates are welcome; a lower rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
• Epic EMR experience (required for first-time travelers in lieu of travel experience)
