Contract | 12-Hour Nights (18:45–07:15) | 3x12 per week | 36- and 48-hour weeks available | Contracts accepted from 16 weeks up to a hard stop date of February 27, 2027 | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a sub-specialized neurological and medical intermediate patient population with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret telemetry/dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response and code team activations
- Manage and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, including Levophed (LEVO), heparin protocols, thrombolytic agents, PCA, and IV insulin drips
- Perform neurological nursing care including management of CVA, intracranial bleeds, craniotomy, TBI, aneurysms, lumbar drains, post-TPA care, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal
- Manage respiratory needs including tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation
- Float as needed to other intermediate areas and critical care (ICU/Stepdown) units per unit needs; minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license – North Carolina or Compact license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required</strong>; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry experience required; limited neuro experience must be disclosed at submission
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- EPIC EMR experience required</strong>; must also be proficient with Pyxis and SBAR
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start; proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips including Levophed is mandatory
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a reduced rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with port access/management, phlebotomy, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and triage
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Preferred certifications: CCRN, TNCC, and CPI
