Contract | Onsite | Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care within an LDRP model including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient assignments
- Circulate and assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including scrubbing and recovery
- Administer and monitor medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
- Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Provide full couplet care including newborn assessment, breastfeeding support, phototherapy, and discharge teaching
- Participate in on-call requirements, weekend rotation, and holiday shift assignments as needed; float between departments, units, and facilities within scope as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; must hold both Kansas and Missouri licensure or a compact license at time of submission
- Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience; no first-time travelers accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy including administration of blood products, peripheral IV insertion, and infusion pump management
- Experience with full LDRP scope: antepartum care, intrapartum management, postpartum care, couplet care, and post-operative gynecology
- Epic EMR proficiency required; completion of pre-start Epic training modules required prior to start date
Preferred Experience / Skills
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, cervical cerclage, neonatal resuscitation, and use of rapid response teams
- Familiarity with anticoagulant and anticonvulsant administration in the obstetric setting
