Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed PICU managing a diverse patient population including Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiovascular ICU diagnoses at nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
- Monitor patients using bedside Philips monitors; recognize rhythm changes and implement associated interventions appropriately
- Operate and manage respiratory therapy equipment including Avia, Servo U, Home Vents Trilogy, and LTV ventilators in collaboration with the care team
- Float to step-down and lower levels of care as needed by unit turn; NICU/NIC float is at the traveler's discretion
- Collaborate with a 24/7 intensivist team, APPs, residents, and a free charge RN to deliver safe, high-quality pediatric critical care
- Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels prior to placement
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience (candidates with intermediate/step-down experience may be considered)
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with ventilator management including Avia, Servo U, Trilogy, and LTV platforms
- Familiarity with Philips bedside monitoring systems and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience working in a combined Medical/Surgical/Neuro/Cardiovascular pediatric ICU environment
