Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Expected 36 or 48 hours per week available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving orthopedic, neuro spine, post-surgical, and general med-surg patient populations
• Manage pain effectively for orthopedic and spine patients, staying proactive with pain assessment and intervention
• Perform IV starts and monitor telemetry as part of routine patient care
• Maintain expected nurse-to-patient ratios of 5–6:1, with the possibility of flexing in exceptional circumstances
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing demands based on census
• Work every other weekend as required; any weekend call-off must be made up on a subsequent weekend

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with orthopedic nursing experience required
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Proficiency with IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• First-time travelers accepted with Epic EMR experience
• Local candidates are welcome; note that a reduced rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
