Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases

• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems, with support from on-unit monitor technicians

• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols and physician orders

• Collaborate with 24/7 charge nurses and house supervisors to maintain safe patient care standards at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 on nights

• Manage respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen patients), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated

• Float to other general medical units as needed and participate in holiday rotation schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Illinois, or confirmed application in progress

• Current BLS certification (required)

• Demonstrated proficiency in EKG interpretation

• Experience with medication titration, including vasoactive and cardiac drips

• Proficiency in all fundamental nursing skills applicable to an acute adult medical-surgical or telemetry setting

• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)

• Prior experience in a Cardio Thoracic, Telemetry, or similar specialty nursing unit

• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations

• Previous experience working within a large acute care health system environment
