Contract | Days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an Intermediate Care / Progressive Care / Stepdown unit within a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response situations
- Manage complex patient populations including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, and renal cases
- Perform and oversee IV therapy including central line care, PICC line management, arterial line management, port access, and blood product administration
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage heparin protocols, PCA, and procedural sedation
- Provide respiratory support including management of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, HFNC, and BiPAP/CPAP
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license in hand at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Willingness to float within the hospital or to affiliate facilities as needed
- Ability to work every other weekend and a minimum of 2 out of 3 major holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Experience with Cerner electronic health records
- Teaching hospital or Level I Trauma center background preferred
