Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3x12s, 36 hours/week | 13–25 Weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a freestanding emergency department serving self-presenting patients across all age groups (infant through geriatric), with limited EMS presentations
- Manage a patient assignment in a unit with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 across a 21–30 bed department
- Perform and assist with special procedures including Moderate Sedation, Stroke Codes, Heart Codes, Trauma Codes, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and external pacing
- Document accurately using Cerner EMR; provide thorough handoff at change of shift, particularly following codes, RRTs, or significant events
- Fulfill holiday and weekend requirements (every other holiday; every 3rd weekend)
- Provide occasional support within the emergency department (CED or WED) as needed; no floating outside of the Emergency Department
Required Qualifications
- Active Delaware RN license or Compact RN license required (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience required; no exceptions
- Recent Epic experience required
- All certifications must be current and provided with expiration dates at time of submission
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; candidates within 50 miles are considered local
- No overtime or incidental overtime is authorized; all shifts must be completed within scheduled hours
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Cerner EMR charting
- Familiarity with high-acuity emergency procedures including trauma, cardiac, and stroke protocols
- Experience caring for diverse patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients
