Contract | Nights (4x12, 19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical Trauma unit receiving patients from the ED, OR, and ICU, including geriatric trauma, abuse/violence victims, MVA/MVC, falls, and acute care surgery cases
- Manage complex trauma diagnoses including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and peripheral nerve block catheters, as well as post-surgical patients including total joint replacements
- Perform and manage blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin administration, PCA, and surgical drains
- Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks; perform oral suctioning
- Manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care/wound vac, external fixators, traction, restraints, and isolation precautions
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to placement
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in MO or a compact license matching permanent residence (MO license may be submitted pending; IL license must be in hand at time of submittal)
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required (ACLS must be obtained by compliance deadline)
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG exam — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Epic EMR charting system
- Background in geriatric trauma care (patients 55+)
- Familiarity with acute care surgery patients including appendicitis, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, and burns
- Experience floating within a service line to meet facility needs
