Contract | 8 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays As Needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit, including monitoring and managing patients with neurological and vascular conditions
- Care for post-operative patients recovering from complex surgical procedures such as Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, and colon resections (no chemotherapy administration)
- Monitor and manage patients with CVA/TIA, subdural conditions, and seizure disorders
- Provide post-procedural care for vascular surgery patients including peripheral angiograms, PAD with wounds, and status-post amputations
- Float to other Medical/Surgical units as needed
- Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; new graduates not accepted
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records charting
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- Experience in neuro telemetry with patients presenting with CVA/TIA, subdural conditions, or seizure disorders
- Background in surgical oncology post-operative care or vascular surgery nursing
