Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week accepted | 13–26 week contracts accepted
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, caring for patients with diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, pneumonia, encephalopathy, anemia, hip fracture, and COVID-19
- Perform telemetry monitoring including remote monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and utilization of Rapid Response Team protocols
- Manage IV therapies including IV insulin protocols, heparin, PCA, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy
- Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen delivery systems
- Perform wound care and wound vac management, colostomy care, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
- Adhere to isolation precautions, float within or near the facility as needed, and fulfill weekend and holiday requirements per contract terms; contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team assignments
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Must be available for all hospital orientation classes during week one (approximately 24 hours of unit orientation)
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a reduced rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, accessing ports, and interpretation of ABGs
- Familiarity with tracheostomy management, surgical drains, CVA patient care, and insulin management
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
