Registered Nurse – PICU (Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required, holiday rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a float pool capacity, covering all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU within scope of practice
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3 depending on unit acuity and census
• Float across pediatric units as needed to meet facility staffing requirements
• Participate in emergency response team assignments during hurricane season (June–November), including peak months of August and September
• Complete required pre-start compliance modules (non-billable, approximately 4 hours, completed prior to start)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU (PICU) experience required
• Active South Carolina RN License or Multi-State/Compact RN License (South Carolina license must be active prior to first day; candidates with pending SC license may be considered with proof of application or ability to complete SC walk-through process)
• BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
• PALS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered as a standard candidate; local candidates (within 60 miles) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at this facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
• Familiarity with pediatric cardiovascular critical care environments
