Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI conditions, infections, neurological disorders, and mental health conditions
- Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum
- Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes and pumps, and heating/cooling pads
- Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis medication dispensing, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring equipment
- Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
- Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/2020) required
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and will be considered under a local rate structure
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
- Experience managing complex medical-surgical patients with multiple comorbidities
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
- Prior experience floating within a large, multi-unit hospital environment
