Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pregnant and high-risk OB patients across Labor and Delivery, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries and cerclage placement
- Titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Insulin per unit protocols
- Circulate cesarean sections in the OR and recover patients in the PACU
- Perform electronic fetal monitoring using Obix/Philips monitors and Epic Stork; Advanced AWHONN EFM certification required
- Float to Postpartum (team of 5–6 patients) and Antepartum (up to 3 high-risk intermittent EFM patients) units as needed
- Adhere to AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines, including 1:1 for Pitocin induction and active labor, and 1:1 PACU coverage
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Advanced AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required
- Must be proficient in care of high-risk OB patients, including Magnesium and Insulin drip management, cesarean section circulation, PACU recovery, and newborn care at both vaginal and cesarean delivery
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience preferred
- Experience in a Level 3 perinatal center or high-acuity OB environment
- Familiarity with Epic Stork EHR and Obix/Philips fetal monitoring systems
