Contract | Full-Time | Nights (12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized intermediate critical care for patients presenting with diagnoses including DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, Stroke, and stroke-like symptoms
- Function as a Rapid Response RN on the unit, responding to acute patient deterioration as needed
- Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, administer Heparin protocols, and oversee PCA and CVA management
- Operate specialized equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Optiflow; utilize PYXIS and EPIC systems for medication management and charting
- Perform IV starts, cardiac telemetry monitoring, feeding tube placement and management, and wound care as required
- Float to Med/Surg as needed (ratio 1:6); maintain a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and work 2 of 3 major holidays
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; recent ICU experience strongly required
- ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, titration of cardiac drips, Heparin protocols, PCA, CVA, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response teams
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Med/Surg or Telemetry, titration of vasoactive drips, and care of ventilated patients
- Wound care and wound VAC experience
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Familiarity with self-scheduling environments and high-acuity step-down or intermediate care units
