Contract | Night Shift (4x12 Hours, 18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 13–20 week contract | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via telemetry and remote monitoring systems
- Perform and manage IV therapy, central/PICC line care, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Manage respiratory support modalities including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
- Provide wound care, ostomy management, feeding tube care, chest tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care
- Participate in Rapid Response and Code Team activations; adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols; float to alternate units as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience (hard requirement)
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- BLS certification (current)
- NIHSS certification (current)
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Ability to work every other weekend, required holidays (minimum 2 of 3 major holidays), and respond during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of a Storm/Hurricane Team
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocols, continuous bladder irrigation, port access, tracheostomy care, surgical drains, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, pre/post thoracic surgery, CVA, bariatric surgery, or substance withdrawal patient populations
- Previous charge nurse experience and proficiency with electronic documentation systems
- Community hospital experience
