Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mammography imaging examinations including routine screening and specialized diagnostic views on patients across all age groups, following ACR positioning standards and departmental protocols.
  • Assess patient condition, corroborate clinical history with procedure, determine possibility of pregnancy, and ensure patient safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, perform QA/QC duties, and transfer imaging data to PACS and other workstations while maintaining appropriate archival storage.
  • Interact with radiologists and attending physicians by reading charts, gathering pertinent lab values, and providing reports as required.
  • Perform equipment start-up, shut-down, and quality control procedures; report operational or equipment malfunctions to supervisor promptly.
  • Provide patient education, advocate for routine breast cancer screening, and prepare and send out letters at the conclusion of patient exams.

Required Qualifications

  • Current ARRT registration in Radiography and Mammography (R)(M) or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Initial training in digital mammography and tomosynthesis required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program with dedicated mammography training; current ARRT registration may be accepted in lieu of accredited graduation.
  • Ability to apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Two or more years of post-graduation imaging experience, including recent x-ray experience; Fuji experience preferred.
  • Meets current MQSA requirements, including 15 breast CEUs within 36 months and 200 mammography exams within 24 months.
  • Experience performing both routine screening and specialized diagnostic mammography views.
