Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours Per Week | 12-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency room environment with an average daily census of 160–180 patients
- Manage a patient assignment within a pod-based team model, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:6 in triage areas
- Care for a diverse patient population including stroke patients, pediatric patients, and patients from long-term care facilities
- Collaborate closely with PCTs, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members within a geographically co-located unit structure
- Fulfill charge nurse responsibilities as needed, providing leadership and oversight to the nursing team
- Adhere to weekend and holiday scheduling requirements as determined by unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 3–5 years of emergency room nursing experience
- Prior experience in an ER charge nurse role
- Familiarity with high-acuity patient populations including stroke and pediatric cases
