Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a heavy Medical ICU environment with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, including some surgical patients (primarily GI and carotid cases)
• Manage and monitor patients admitted from an active 24/7 Cath Lab, including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization/intervention care
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; administer IV insulin protocols
• Manage ventilated patients including vent management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning; manage arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Administer blood products and continuous IV sedations; manage multi-system organ failure and chronic/acute renal failure patients
• Float within scope to additional units (AAU and Med/Surg) as needed to meet facility demands; adhere to infection prevention protocols including isolations and PPE use

Required Qualifications

• Active and valid RN license (must be in hand prior to start date; temporary license may be acceptable once permanent application has been submitted)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS/BCLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Must be willing to float within the hospital or to an affiliate facility — floating is 100% required of all travelers
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; candidates may have up to 5 non-holiday RTO days auto-approved, with additional RTO subject to facility approval
• Indiana residents are not accepted for this ICU position — locals are not eligible
• Nursing degree from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHS) certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records
• Prior experience in a high-acuity Medical ICU with exposure to cardiac cath lab patients
