Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an acute care inpatient dialysis unit with an average daily census of 3–6 patients in a 2-room, 4-bed unit
• Initiate, set up, and manage hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments, including cannulation of AV grafts, AV fistulas, and tunneled/non-tunneled catheters
• Administer blood/blood products, Mannitol, albumin, and 23.4% NaCl during dialysis treatment as indicated
• Monitor and troubleshoot machine alarms including arterial pressure, blood leak detector, conductivity, and venous pressure alarms
• Recognize and manage dialysis-related complications such as hypotension, hyperkalemia, cardiac arrest, fluid overload, disequilibrium syndrome, and pyrogenic reactions
• Participate in on-call rotation, including overnight call coverage and every-third-Saturday call through Monday 7:00, with a 1-hour response time for emergent cases

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience
• Experience in acute care inpatient dialysis, including acute renal failure, acute kidney injury, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis
• Proficiency with B. Braun Dialog dialysis equipment
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation as required, including weekend and overnight call

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
• Background in teaching hospital, community hospital, or Level I or II Trauma center settings
