Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor and delivery, LDRP, couplet care, and postpartum settings, managing both laboring patients and mother/baby couplets as unit needs require
• Circulate in the OR for cesarean section deliveries and recover C-section patients in the PACU
• Perform antepartum care and procedures including NST, OCT, sterile vaginal exams, EFM, triage of obstetrical patients, and reflex/edema/clonus assessments
• Administer and monitor medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, Antihypertensives, Anticoagulants, and Insulin drips; manage IV therapy, blood product administration, and infusion pumps
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, cord sample collection, and ID/security banding; support newborn care including hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, metabolic screening, and parent discharge teaching
• Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, wound care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required; LDRP or couplet care experience also required
• Must be proficient in both Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby (couplet care) nursing practice
• Competency in fetal monitoring including external and internal monitoring, IUPC use, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with L&D management skills including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and PACU recovery
• Proficiency with unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
• Active certifications required: AWHONN Beginner or Intermediate, BLS/BCLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and NRP; NC RN license or Compact license required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Experience in obstetrical triage preferred
