Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 18:45–07:15) | 36 hours per week | 13-week contracts available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor and delivery, LDRP, couplet care, and postpartum settings, managing both laboring patients and mother/baby couplets as unit needs require
- Circulate in the OR for cesarean section deliveries and recover C-section patients in the PACU
- Perform antepartum care and procedures including NST, OCT, sterile vaginal exams, EFM, triage of obstetrical patients, and reflex/edema/clonus assessments
- Administer and monitor medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, Antihypertensives, Anticoagulants, and Insulin drips; manage IV therapy, blood product administration, and infusion pumps
- Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, cord sample collection, and ID/security banding; support newborn care including hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, metabolic screening, and parent discharge teaching
- Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, wound care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required; LDRP or couplet care experience also required
- Must be proficient in both Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby (couplet care) nursing practice
- Competency in fetal monitoring including external and internal monitoring, IUPC use, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with L&D management skills including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and PACU recovery
- Proficiency with unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
- Active certifications required: AWHONN Beginner or Intermediate, BLS/BCLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and NRP; NC RN license or Compact license required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Experience in obstetrical triage preferred
