Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments, incorporating culture, age, developmental level, risk factors, and presenting complaint in accordance with RN scope of practice and applicable policies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in coordination with patients, families, and the inter-professional team, adjusting interventions based on ongoing assessment findings.
- Administer medications, perform medical procedures such as wound care and IV therapy, and operate medical equipment while maintaining patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching, coordination with Case Management, and timely execution of discharge orders.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to team members, monitor accuracy and completeness of delegated care, and organize workload relative to patient acuity and unit activity.
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction initiatives, fall prevention, pressure ulcer monitoring, CAUTI reduction, and documentation auditing.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and use of medical equipment and technology.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and task prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and patient/family education.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience in an observation, medical-surgical, or acute care nursing setting.
