Contract | 8 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shift hours
- Monitor and assess patients including those with neurological, vascular, and surgical oncology diagnoses
- Support post-operative recovery for patients following complex surgical procedures
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
- Float to other Medical/Surgical units as needed
- Adhere to holiday coverage requirements as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; new graduates not accepted
- Prior travel nursing experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in neuro telemetry caring for patients with CVA/TIA, subdural hematomas, and seizure disorders
- Background in surgical oncology post-operative recovery (e.g., Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, colon resections); chemo administration is not required
- Experience in vascular surgery, including post-peripheral angiogram care, peripheral artery disease with wounds, and status-post amputations
- Proficiency with Epic EMR charting
