Contract | Full-Time | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12-Hour Shifts) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac and stroke stepdown unit with patient ratios of 1:5–6, including surge assignments of up to 6 patients
• Manage pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients including pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and peripheral vascular interventions
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone; manage PCI patients and TR bands
• Monitor and care for patients with diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and low-risk chest pain
• Operate telemetry, pulse oximetry, high-flow O2, non-rebreather masks, and BiPAP (chronic use only) equipment
• Participate in on-call rotations, float assignments, and weekend requirements (every other weekend; 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period)

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac stepdown or similarly high-acuity setting with comparable patient ratios and acuity levels
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover (78–90 patients per week)
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the same posted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with cardiac drip titration, including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Familiarity with Pyxis, Epic (Dimensions), and SBAR communication frameworks
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers also considered)
• Experience caring for CVA/TIA and post-interventional cardiac patients
