Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity unit serving PCU and Med/Surg Telemetry patients with a target ratio of 1:4–5
• Manage and monitor patients presenting with COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, and related comorbidities
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, chronic trach/vent patients, and telemetry; administer drips including Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin
• Perform IV starts, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including a team lead, respiratory therapists, assistant nurse manager, RRT, and behavioral health team
• Float to like units within the facility as needed; utilize EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency in IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Local candidates (within 50 miles of facility) are accepted; a lower rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with higher-acuity med-surg or stepdown patient populations
• Familiarity with chest tube management and vasoactive/cardiac drip administration
