Key Responsibilities
- Provide intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater in a high-volume, fast-paced birthing unit averaging 20 births and 30–40 admissions per 24-hour period
- Manage double labor assignments, which are a daily occurrence on this unit
- Perform sterile vaginal exams and provide competent immediate newborn care
- Circulate in the OR for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures
- Conduct obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration for outpatient procedures
- Float as needed to a high-risk Special Maternity Care OB unit; work every other weekend with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; 3 years strongly preferred
- Experience in a high-volume setting with greater than 300 births per month is required
- Required certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP
- Proficiency with circulating in the OR, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
- Local candidates are welcome and eligible to apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 3 or more years of Labor and Delivery experience in a large, high-acuity setting
- Prior experience circulating to the OR in an obstetrical environment
- Familiarity with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR documentation systems
- Previous travel nursing experience in a comparable high-volume L&D unit
