Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/PCU unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular conditions, cardiomyopathy, and vascular disorders
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and oversee pre/post cardiac catheterization and post-DCCV and electrophysiology procedure care
- Manage cardiac drips and titrate vasoactive medications as indicated; perform and assist with sheath removal and femoral sheath management
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), epicardial pacing wires, TR band, Fem-stop, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG
- Utilize non-invasive airway management including external CPAP/BiPAP and nasal cannula; support patients post-CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and other cardiac and thoracic surgeries
- Document using EPIC, communicate via SBAR, and dispense medications through Pyxis; participate in unit float rotation and expected weekend coverage of 4 shifts per 4-week period
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
- Travel nursing experience required unless the candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac-specific experience
- Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound VAC experience
- Charge nurse experience
