Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 21-bed Nephrology unit serving patients with ESRD, AKI, hemo- and peritoneal dialysis, transplant (kidney and pancreas), parathyroidectomies, urological procedures, and general medicine overflow
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, conducting bedside report and 1–2 hour patient rounding each shift
• Collaborate with PCT staff, charge nurses, and house supervisors who are available 24/7; charge nurse typically does not carry a full patient assignment
• Administer inhalers and coordinate with respiratory therapists for respiratory treatments; manage telemetry monitoring in coordination with remote TeleTech staff (nurses not required to read or interpret strips independently)
• Float to other general medicine units as needed; infrequent float to ED, ICU, or sitter roles
• Maintain active Illinois RN license and current BLS certification throughout the assignment

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• General medicine nursing background
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Nephrology or urology nursing background
• Experience caring for dialysis patients (hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis)
• Familiarity with post-operative transplant care and transplant rejection management
• Demonstrated positive attitude, strong teamwork, and dependability
