Contract | Days | 2x8 Hours (Tuesday & Wednesday, 7:00–15:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Process and prepare excision specimens, incisional biopsies, shave biopsies, and formalin-fixed tissues for histological analysis
• Perform precision microtomy using microtome and cryostat, including cutting blocks and microtomy of frozen sections
• Prepare and stain slides using basic dye stains including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), and apply coverslips for final slide preparation
• Operate laboratory equipment including cryostat, stainer, and microscope in support of MOHs procedures and skin cancer cases
• Handle reagents and apply appropriate methods of freezing in accordance with laboratory protocols
• Document and manage specimen information using EMR systems

Required Qualifications

• ASCP-HT (Histotechnician) certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of histology experience required; experience with tissue processing for MOHs is strongly preferred
• Indiana state license required and must be in hand prior to start date; pending licenses are not accepted
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a commercial or reference laboratory setting
• Background in a hospital clinical laboratory environment
• Familiarity with aqueous-based laboratory techniques and reagents
• Prior exposure to MOHs surgical procedures and skin cancer specimen processing
