Contract | Nights | Weekend Schedule (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Expected 36–48 hours/week | 13-Week Contracts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across a range of psychiatric diagnoses including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders on an inpatient locked psychiatric unit
• Administer and monitor psychiatric medications including antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety agents, mood stabilizers, and sedatives/analgesics; perform blood glucose monitoring and oxygen administration
• Implement and document crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavior management, and physical hold and seclusion protocols as needed; utilize emergent chemical restraint procedures per policy
• Rotate between two behavioral health floors (2nd and 9th), working across all acuity levels as assigned
• Document accurately using EPIC (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication standards; utilize ObservSmart proximity-based patient monitoring system and personal panic alarms
• Float to med-surg units within the facility to assist with tasks when operationally needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience required
• MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification required
• Demonstrated experience in an inpatient psychiatric or locked behavioral health unit setting
• Proficiency with psychiatric nursing skills including voluntary/involuntary commitment procedures, seclusion protocols, psychoeducation, and interpretation and communication of lab values
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are welcome; a lower rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working with patients with congenital or developmental disorders
• Experience managing patients with profound impulse control issues
• Ability to start and maintain peripheral IVs
