Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI conditions, infections, neurological disorders, and mental health conditions
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and Hospira IV pumps and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at a locally adjusted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Experience managing complex patient populations including neurological, GI, and infectious disease cases
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
• Experience floating to multiple medical-surgical units in a high-volume hospital environment
