Key Responsibilities
- Assist members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period, with a focus on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment
- Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures across a patient population ranging from neonate through geriatric
- Display aseptic technique in the performance of surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes
- Demonstrate responsibility for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation
- Consistently perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure
- Recognize and respond appropriately during urgent or emergency situations
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification required
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) required
- Minimum of two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique
