Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis medication dispensing, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, telemetry monitoring, and SCDs for VTE prevention
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and will be considered under a local rate structure

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Experience managing complex drips including heparin and insulin protocols
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a medical-surgical environment
• Experience caring for patients with mental health comorbidities in an acute care setting
