Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care within an LDRP model, including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care with full couplet care required
- Circulate and assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections, including recovery of C-section patients
- Administer and monitor medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, prostaglandins, and terbutaline; manage IV therapy, infusion pumps, and blood product administration
- Perform and interpret external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Provide newborn care including assessment, hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, metabolic screening, and discharge teaching to parents
- Participate in weekend rotation (4–6 Sat/Sun shifts and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule), holiday assignments, charge RN assignments as needed, and 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule period
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; must hold both Kansas and Missouri licensure or a compact license at time of submission
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience; first-time travelers not accepted
- Required Certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and NRP
- Proficiency in Epic EMR (required); Epic training modules must be completed prior to start
- Demonstrated skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, fetal monitoring, postpartum care, neonatal delivery room care, and surgical case support (C-section circulating)
- Must live at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, scrubbing for C-sections, and cervical cerclage procedures
- Familiarity with neonatal resuscitation, APGAR scoring, radiant warmers, anticoagulants, and anticonvulsant administration
