Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI conditions, infections, neurological disorders, and mental health conditions
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis machines, Hospira IV pumps, AccuCheck blood glucose monitors, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/2020) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Experience managing complex, high-acuity medical-surgical patient populations
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and advanced IV therapy management
