Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
  • Manage and monitor IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
  • Utilize Epic EHR for documentation and Pyxis for medication management; operate equipment including Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck glucometers, telemetry monitors, and heating/cooling pads
  • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
  • Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

  • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/2020) required
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard rate; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and will be considered at a locally adjusted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
  • Experience managing telemetry monitoring and complex drip management in a high-acuity medical-surgical environment
  • Familiarity with VTE prevention protocols and wound care management
